HIGHER MORWELL GARDEN DIARY
27th October 2016
Leaves everywhere. Surprising to note that the big beech tree doesn’t get into full leaf until mid-May, and starts dropping leaves in August. The leylandii hedge behind the polytunnel has been opened up a little and there is now light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. The cucumbers are still providing but have slowed down with the shorter daylight hours, and the one remaining Bulgarian Carrot chilli plant has several ripe chillies. Hotter than expected!
The new soakaway is finally in place in the quadrangle, but the problem was how to get the digger in there. Simple - knock down the back wall and drive straight in! Inspiration soon struck, we’ll put in steps from the quadrangle up to the garden. They’ll be slightly nicer looking than the demolished breeze blocks too.
