HIGHER MORWELL GARDEN DIARY
25th January 2017
After a break of three weeks the badger has
returned for another night of grass ripping. A new
part this time so maybe the chillies I’ve spread
around does put him/her off.
So many plants are showing new life out there.
We’ve been blessed with dry, bright and still days, it
feels warm in the sun and the garden responds
Today the tree surgeon took his
chainsaw to the sickly cypress tree
that we’d slowly been reducing by
cutting the branches at the
bottom. Now we have plenty of
logs to cut, split and dry for next
winter, and a lot of twigs and
branches to keep the bonfire fed.
The stump has been left with
enough height to help us lever it
out when the time comes and Mr
Cann’s JCB is available. We have a
better view of the north-east part
of the garden and the wildflower
patch, and when the wood from
this cut has been cleared we’ll
start on the cypress to the right
which has a lot of thin vertical
branches instead of a central
trunk.
One of my golf balls is lodged in
there somewhere…
Left 9am this morning, right 11am. Branches overhanging the road have been cut back and particularly
those snagging the telephone wire have also gone, the wire once again runs straight from pole to pole
instead of all around the branches. I believe BT can be quite unpleasant financially if your trees break
their telephone lines. Another day of cloudless blue skies and the primroses are out on the Devon bank.
