HIGHER MORWELL QUADRANGLE PROJECT

Before we moved to Morwell we identified this area as the first that we’d work to improve. It hasn’t happened. Not immediately obvious were two things - the lounge wall seen in the top photo never sees sunlight during the day, and the eternally damp grass around there was the recipient of two tons of water a day from a major leak on the house mains inlet pipe. The leak has been repaired, and the baskets in the picture are now underground as a soakaway for the roof, and after new guttering was fitted we hope that ends the building work stopping us making something of this area. The block wall isn’t very pretty! Some blocks are now gone and a couple of steps are planned to access the garden at the left of the lower picture.
The oil tank for the central heating is to the right of the house in the left picture. It needs a fence to remove it from view and a gate for access beside it, no gate is a disaster in the making as the rabbits are straight in and dig up anything growing. On the right is another call for screening - we had the heating boiler outlet rebuilt to suit current legislation requirements and again it needs a screen, probably to remove the bathroom window from view as well. The grass seems to be growing in black sand and the eternally shady area by the patio doors may become a paved area to get rid of the unsatisfactory grass. We’re still considering ideas that may include a space for the start of the garden railway.
