HIGHER MORWELL GARDEN DIARY
19th June 2016
Paving slabs and wood planks were delivered on Friday
and a start has been made on the first bed in the
polytunnel. The weather has been dull and the
wildflower garden is currently flattened by the weight
of the rain. The deer have completely defoliated one
of the new laurel bushes in the north-east corner - we
thought laurel was poisonous? Although all the
materials are ready to go the weather just isn’t
reliable enough to try out the cement mixer and start
building the potting shed patio.
The path and boarding for
the first bed are just over
half-way down the tunnel
now, and a few herbs that
were really suffering in
the greenhouse have been
planted by the door.
Lesley has sifted a lot of
the soil heaped in the
middle and the large
amount of stone and
smaller grit removed has
gone down the back of the
wall behind the house as
filler. The major dig will
start soon, the ground on
the right of the picture
needs to be lowered by
about a foot.
