HIGHER MORWELL GARDEN DIARY
1st February 2017
Looked up the garden this morning. Rather surprised to see some more uninvited visitors…

There are twelve of them. How fortunate that the farmer gave me his phone number just a couple of

weeks ago in case something like this happened. They’ve broken out of their field and into the

paintballer’s wood next door, come down to that gate which may just have given in to a bit of a push and

wandered into the road. We can see the footprints from there… looks like they were spooked by the cars

on the road and jumped our Devon Bank in two or three places into our garden.

It can’t have been long before I saw them - there’s no cow poo anywhere in the garden and they’re

usually fairly prolific on that score. Apart from a bit of trampling in the onion bed - far right one is

standing in it - the only damage is a lot of hoofprints as the ground is a bit soggy. They did a good job of

grazing the grass! Two more were in the adjoining field which has no gate to the road. Adrian the farmer,

his wife, Lesley and I drove them all back up the road to their field, and no animals were hurt in this

adventure!
