HIGHER MORWELL GARDEN DIARY
10th July 2017
We are just about fully self-sufficient in vegetables
at the moment as we have potatoes, carrots, onions,
garlic, cavalo nero, courgettes, radishes, peas and
very close to adding cucumbers, beetroot, tomatoes
and cabbage to that list. And the one chilli plant has
masses of chillies on it, growing well in the middle of
the polytunnel.
The Charlotte potatoes
shed their flowers a
while back, and have
started to look like
they’re wilting. But
not with blight!
We dug up two plants
and got a plentiful
supply of fairly big
spuds so maybe we
should have done this a
week or two back.
Delicious!
A splash of colour! This should be the last year the badly overcrowded bed of hydrangeas are in
this spot, three will be moved to a new position closer to the workshop and potting shed, and
the other four will be found new homes around the garden. Still some leaf damage evident after
the late April frost.
